Well, think of who's posts you read and respect on the board...Those are the signatures you look at and click on.
When people buy sigs they often go for people well known in the industry or those who have green names ;)
They can be efficient for promotion but so can a post about your program or a contest.. Contests seem to get a lot of people looking in...
There's a buy and sell forum where you can sort out buying sigs but you'll probably end up getting a load of money grabbing n00bs wanting your attention. You might be better setting a price (per post or by the month)then asking people to get in touch if they're interested.
