I think for two reasons:

(1) people tend to want what they cant have or is perceived as hard to get.

(2) you hanging out with girls, especially if they're cute, gives you social capital and social proof in the eyes of other women. you must be a cool and desirable dude if all those other girls are having a good time with you.
