Cologroup - Past 24 hours

We experienced service interruptions over the past 24 hours, which have been resolved as of yesterday afternoon. I would like to sit here and tell you guys everything that went on, but I am going to make it short, because I need to calm down before I start saying things that I shouldn't.

As many of our customers knew, our Admin Myles was being released this month, which was not going to be an easy task. I spent the last 2 months putting together one of the best support teams this industry has ever seen and immediately Myles would be leaving. He saw it coming and took advantage that I was in Florida this week visiting my daughter.

Late last night, Myles attempts to remove servers and networking equipment in our SD facility. He was on the access list because he was still working and got out with 7 key servers and a switch. I get a call from my tech that things are going off line, speak with the data center secuirty to find out if Myles is there and pulling equipment. The security did not know he was stealing equipment because he said he was taking the servers to be fixed. When they found out what was happening, they kicked him out of the facility and the police were notified. They attempted to stop him from leaving the data center and he almost ran over the security guard.

I immediately let numerous people know and we began looking for him. He ends up going to my house, and attempting to steal additional equipment. My neighbor who I had called, catches him, but he drives off in his car. He then followed him down the street, called the cops, and Myles was pulled over about 15 miles from where the chase started.

We got the servers back, but a switch was missing, and there where other problems. Our techs installed the recovered equipment and service was restored. I knew firing him was not going to be easy, but I did not expect this. Myles is gone and would have been arrested last night, but in order to get the equipment back right away, they had to let him go. They would have taken the equipment as evidence if they arrested him and we were unsure as to when it would be returned to our company.

Currently all service has been resolved and we expect no additional problems. I'll be around to reply tomorrow if anyone has any questions in the morning. Customers will be emailed later today with further details. I just need to relax and catch some sleep for a bit. Techs are online if anybody needs anything.

I am looking forward to putting the past 24 hours behind us as soon as possible and giving our customers a chance to work with the new support team.
