Get a dog! I walk ours at least five miles a day, and they need routine so you have to do it at regular intervals throughout the day. Walk everywhere that is feasible to, use the stairs rather than elevators or escalators.
As already said above, don't go on one of he 'fad' diets, just change the way you eat, go through your cupboards, throw out all the crap, fill the refridgerator with fruit and veg, fruit juice and the like. If possible don't by pre-made meals, cook your own from scratch, you know exactly what goes into it then. If you can handle it for a while cut out the dead animal part of your diet and eat veggies only, there's a lot of hidden fat in some meats.

I'm the other end of the spectrum with weight problems, my doctor has told me I need to seriously increase my calorific intake, which is difficult when you don't have an appetite ( I don't get munchies anymore when blitzed for some strange reason either).
