Okay, here's the deal on why Weight watchers (and many other diet programs) are short term success stories and long term failures:
They don't teach you anything except to eat their pre-made, pre-measured food. They don't teach you how to cook better, how to eat better, or how to live better, just how to buy their food.
My personal experience is going from almost 195 down to right about 160 now, so I have a little bit of experience in the game... and I am over 40, which makes it twice as hard.
Top 5 things you can live without: Soda, McDonalds, fries, sugar, and chips.
Top 5 things you could really use: Decent filling food, exercice (walking is good enough), water, an understanding of food, and some motivation.
My suggestion is don't go on a diet, go for a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Don't drive thru to get anything. Don't even eat at places with a drive thru window. Don't have the soda or the sugary drink, have water. Stop adding so much sugar to your coffee. Cut out the junk food. Learn about what you eat, learn about what you need to eat, and work it out.
278 pounds didn't come overnight, you know EXACTLY where each of them came from. Reverse the process.
