It sucks ass. But this was actual combat and probably a genuine mistake. And does happen. It's not cool but there is no way to avoid it 100% of the time.
Unlike the training exercise that was bombed by a coward gung ho pilot claiming "self defence" against small arms fire that couldn't even reach him.
