STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) -- An assistant coach for a youth football
team is facing child abuse charges after allegedly attacking a boy
on the opposing team during a game in Stockton.
Thirty-six-year-old Cory Petero of Riverbank turned himself in

Witnesses told the Stockton Record that Potero rushed the field
after his son received a late hit during a game between the
Riveroak Redskins and the Stockton Bears.
A brawl ensued, with parents and children from both teams
fighting on the field.
The brawl continued at varying levels of intensity for about 20
minutes, according to witnesses.
