could be wrong though, but not so long ago I wanted to start my own vintage site and all the content that I found was without 2257 papers, it doesn't really matter to me (I'm not in the States) but I didn't want to cause shit for potential affiliates

This is very true.
Some of the 'retro/vintage' sites scanned old porn magazines from the seventies and seem to be assuming that the original publisher is no longer around and the 'grandfather' date exemption for 2257 applies.
I'd feel better working with sponsors who have all the licensing info for their content regardless of when it was produced.
