We all love and admire Steve Irwin's work.
His zest for life and nature was real and infectious. He was Australian but also an international star. And his accent, who could forget it?
Yes, it was an accident, but it is really not any different than wrestling a croc or taking close-up photos of a spitting cobra.
The stingray is a WILD animal, just like all the others.
It is no coincidence that the segment of the film he was shooting at the time was called "Ocean's Deadliest."
No disrespect to Steve. Everyone who loves nature loved Steve. He was a great man, and the world grieves.
But, to say that he didn't die from one (in this particular case, remote) risk of close proximity to a wild animal that went awry, would not be accurate, in my view.
