I didn't know that Steve was 24 years old?
I'm sure a lot of 24-25 year old's are speeding, driving while drunk, on the phone (without headset) or whatever, which indeed could lead to the harsh conclusion that they are also "asking for it", meaning they take an unnecessary risk. Bare in mind, "asking for it" is far from the same as "deserving it". I don't think anyone deserves to die. I'm sure people mean "it was expected" or "it didn't come as a surprise".
I get your point, but the numbers are really not that useful unless you compare the amount of people getting into a car and dying from it, with the amount of people wrestling a crocodile (or teasing a stingray) and dying from it.
Sure, it's a shame that he died and it's a shame that his family will suffer. But I didn't know him in person and I didn't watch his shows, so it's not really going to affect me in any way. Therefore my leftover sympathy will go to all the other people on this planet, who are much worse off than he was. They die everyday without "asking for it".
