With AlienQ (or Mark to his friends), I have accumulated hours of phone time. We've probably had maybe a dozen phone conversations, with the longest in maybe the 35-minute range. If memory serves, this was bout a month ago. We talked about GFY.

Among the things we discussed was the question "Is GFY real?" -- meaning simply, do things that happen here, really matter, and if so, HOW?

Without going too far off the topic of the thread, I can tell you the answer I gave to Mark (and which he resisted at first) was "It depends". He was trying to convince me that it mattered a lot. Except he wasn't realy trying to convince me -- more like all his assertions during the discussion came forth from a position of believing GFY very meaningful and influential to his life. This seemed to grieve him.

By contrast, in my single (short) conversation with Jim, it was he who made it quite clear to me -- with that damned infectious giggle of his -- that GFY is what you make it.

No, these are not the same man.
