"Generic" Flash video player?

Wondering if anybody knows of a "generic" Flash video player that will play Videos from their native format, without having to re-encode? What I mean is, the video player will sit on a webpage, and through a config file you point it to a .mpg, or .avi file - and it will play the vid through the flash player.

Essentially, something similar to the many Flash music players readily available. Something similar to http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ -- but for video.

I've been searching around, and can't seem to find something. Not sure if it's because of the many different codecs, or what the case is. But any help on this would be really appreciated.
