Just a technical note for the swimming exercise people. Swimming is an absolutely wonderful exercise for your cardiovascular system. Unfortunately, most studies have shown that swimming causes people to develop a thin layer of fat because of all the time spent in the cooler environment that being in the water creates.
If you want to lose weight, eat right, do a combination of intense aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Make sure you stay hydrated. Make sure you never skip a meal...you create a "starve" response in your body...four smaller meals a day is great.
Now, if you are a powerlifter, I am at 8000 calories a day right now and will increase to 12000 calories in the coming weeks for the Nationals. 2 grams of protein for every lb of bodyweight.
Bodybuilders have some similiar regimens, but they are a bunch of losers, so I don't hang with them.
