If you are going through withdrawal you are tapering off too fast. I was on paxil for years and it took me about 5 months to get off it.

Let's say your reg dosage is 40mg/day. Ask your doctor to prescibe you 4 10mg tablets instead of 1 40mg tablet because your will have to get a little knife and cut up the 10mg tablets in 4 parts so you can taper down in 2.5mg increments.

So in the first 7 days take your regular 40mg dosage (or whatever your regular dose is). Then for the next 7 days you take 37.5 mg (3 x 10mg + 3/4 10mg tablet. 10+10+10+7.5=37.5mg). Continue taking the 37.5mg dosage for a minimum of 7 days. If you still feel OK then lower your dosage to 35mg for the next 7 days and continue until you are off the drug. At this rate it take about 16 weeks (yes 4 months) to get off. If you find 7 day intervals are too fast increase the interval to 10 days. It's important that you NEVER MISS A DAY. You have to discipline yourself. You will feel very tired from taking it every day. But it's worth it. The anxiety will come back but just hang in there. It's a good feeling to be off. The good news is I lost about 35lbs when I got off it. I really does make you gain weight.

Get your self one of those little plastic pill containers to help you manage your little drug junks and mark everything on a calendar to monitor your progress. It get's confusing looking at all those little cut up pieces without any dosage stamps on them. It's like managing little pieces of crack.

By the way Effexor is just as addictive. It's the same class of drug (ssri).

Good luck
