I have never been beaten in Monopoly and I would challenge anyone. One rule that I play with, IF you land on a piece of property that is not owed, you can morgage that property to buy it. If you read the rule book, it does not specificly state you can do this, BUT does state that you can do anything that you could do in real life. To settle a long running argument over this, my family has in fact written to Hasbro and thier reply letter does in fact support this.
Actualy, no shit... My dad actually did write to Hansbro because of this. He and my mother always played another couple over in Germany and this from what I understand caused a heated argument where niether of them would play untill it was solved LOL! They (Hansbro) actually wrote back and explained that Yes, he was correct in playing this way and if you could do it in real life then do it in the game.
