To assure means stating with confidence, while to ensure means making certain. Unless you're gonna do something about it, there is no way you can "ensure" that he does not want to fuck with Lindsay.

I'm no English teacher, but I agree. "Assure" is the proper word. "Ensure" may have a similar meaning, but it isn't the proper word and it doesn't even "sound right" when said.
Either way, arguing over words instead of intentions is pretty stupid.
