Wow, this thread is full of stupid info.

One a "Rim" is jsut one small part of the wheels, only older trucks and some cars had wheels were the rim was a seperate peice.

If you dont change the overall height of the wheel/tire then your speedo will be the same.
if you get a larger wheel then your tire sidewall gets smaller, this WILL effect ride, you are alowing less flex in the tire befor the suspension needs to come into play.

Your milage WILL go down if the wheel/tire combo is heavier, this will also cause your car to have slower acceloration, and longer braking distances.
Your cornering should get better, less sidewall to flex means the tire stays more in contact with the road.

if you get wider but same overall hieght, its the same as above, only thing that will change is traction will be better, milage will be worse, and stopping can be better.
You just have to get the proper offset wheel to make sure there is no rubbing.

technically its the more weight that causes the slower acceleration and longer braking distances. But light strong wheels are not cheap at all.

And most importantly on a 3 series BMW you will probably never be able to notice the slower acceleration or increased braking distance with a 19X9 or smaller wheel.

The tires make a huge difference too, dont go cheap on them.
