You need to login your router from a wired pc. It has an ip.

User / pass will show up ... The instructions will tell you what they are ( maybe admin/admin ).

You must change those to your own passwords for safety reasons.
Then you go to the WEP , activate and select a key to encrypt. That key will be used in the laptop to connect .

You could also " not publish " your network for more security, or at least change the name so that hackers don't know the actual brand/model of the router...
