As long as the diameter of the tire is the same,and in most cases they will be.Check with tirerack.com, your speedometer reading will remain the same.
The M3 I had came with 19's and I bought some 18's for winter rims.I like the feel of the 18's better.They were lighter to steer and made the car a lot easier to toss around.For normal day to day driving,I'd be surprised if you felt any difference in the handling.
