I quit my management job a year ago this week !
I would say from personal experience you are not a newbie when other webmasters pull crap on forums about you and you can trace it back to competition with your paysite and being a competitor !
I have had that happen about 3 times now with my balloon site along with webmasters joining it to see what I have and emailing me pretending to be a customer.. I take it as a compliment that I am doing SOMETHING right...
