Where in upstate were you? I spent most of my time at our family's properties on Skaneateles lake. It's the pointer finger of the finger lakes and the 5th cleanest lake in the nation....100% spring fed...the water is frickin' COLD though, but it's so beautiful!
Then I spent the last few days at the end of the US looking at Canada in the Thousand Islands area at my boyfriend's place on the St. Lawrence River.

Driving was not a bad option but I am in FL so that was not. I was in Orange County (now famous from Orange County Choppers) which is about an hour north of NYC. The party was not exciting at all and no wet t shirts damnit lol.
We also have a house on Lake Sacandaga which is waaaay up north in the Adirondacks about 20 minutes from Lake George.
