But there is much more to gypsies than the common prejudices which were showing themselves in reponse to your post, so I didn't think a little balance would be entirely out of place.
And in purely practical terms, while legally we can hold gypsies to account if they do not follow our rules, since we have forced them completely outside our societies for so long, would it really be surprising if they have no respect for those societies? All over the world people are preying on their neighbors much as you describe. Given that it is always wrong, is it worse to prey on your own community or on one to which you do not belong?

They have chosen to live in another community, and they have to follow the rules set out by that community. If they dont they should be punished and chastised like anybody else. History is not a valid excuse.
