The more times goes on, the more you'll fall in love with OS X and out of love with Windows, that is, if you're using both and you've been a Windows user in the past. That's how it worked for me anyways...

If you want an external drive to use with both, you'll have to format it FAT32 because both can read and write with it.

Windows cannot see Mac HFS+ drives, Macs can read but cannot write to NTFS drives.

There is another option, some windows software called MacDrive will let Windows see Mac HFS+ drives as normal drives. Might be your best option.
