We aren't a socialist country. Although our health care system is flawed in ways, hospitals will never turn away a patient who is in dire need of medical care.

With a free market economy like the US, you will have areas of your society that rely on heavily on your economic standing. Just as the rich can afford good lawyers while the poor can't. However, the lack of a socialized health care system allows for competition in the medical field and thus creating one of the most medically advanced nations in the world. We have some of the best hospitals and doctors in the world. Socializing medicine will cause less motivation for a doctor to become great.

Again, it's not a good thing sometimes, but it's the price you pay for not being in a completely socialist government.

You pay much higher tax rates in Canada, which I'd prefer not to. I'd rather have my money and do with it as I please.
