How is it not possible to do business with all of those attendees at the same hotel? You'd have to be trying REALLY hard. Sit in the lobby for 4 hours and you'll have as many business prospects as you have at other shows for the entire duration. What you DO with those prospects is another story.
As for hating it down there? Okay, I'd agree with hating the weather.

I suppose so.. I can see how it is possible not to get business done, but I think you'd have to know absolutely nobody and/or just not give a shit. My agenda.. I get drunk and have a good time, if you are doing the same, chances are we are going to do business together because we have that in common.
