Shoot in HDV and it compresses down to Mpeg2. Feed that Mpeg2 into your software as you capture and it has to recompress just to edit. Or else you downconvert out of the camera and recompress to the DV codec. Next you output and recompress to a 1MB and now you call it "HD"

Oh well, if it makes you and extra buck marketing to idiots then I guess it is a good thing.
