When people ask me what I do, I tell them that I map out strategies for correlating user email clicking behavior with promotional strategies recorded on mySQL databases. Subject changes quickly after that.

FYI: I have no idea what relational database programming is, but I know that it sounds boring as hell and nobody will continue to ask me questions after hearing that. The only problem I had was one time I met someone who was a database programmer and he almost figured out that I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I dodged that problem by changing the subject.
This strategy has worked for years. Although it's getting hard to conceal the fact that I make a shit load of money for my age.
Nobody needs to know what I do besides me.
