Spain has tappas. Which is a series of fried, greasy appetizers they deem a wholesome meal. Barcelona does have many, many restaurants though.

A large % of a stores and businesses close down at 2pm and do not re-open until 4pm or 5pm. Banks, stores, etc etc.

Barcelona is still relatively 'pure'. You have the white trash of Europe (the English) in the bars and college parts, but for the most part the city was not infested with scum.
