Why do you rednecks automatically play that same card the minute you hear someone question our government?
As BoyAlley stated, Saddam is on trial for killing a handful of people, not "hundreds of thousands". Prosecution is unsure of what the verdict will be, and there are plans in place for what will happen if he is found not guilty (which is a good possibility considering the FACTS of the case against him). If he really did kill xxx,xxx people then don't you think such claims and supporting evidence would be made by the prosecution to lock the guilty verdict in?
Saddam himself does not deny that he was involved in the gassing deaths. His side of the story is that they got caught in the crossfire in the war against Iran. This is believable, especially considering the CIA gave him those very weapons to use on Iran back when we were on Saddam's side during that war.
He has another trial coming up after this one concerning mass graves that were found. It is believed these Iraqi's were aiding and abetting Iran in the war. In other words, treason, which is punishable by DEATH even here in the USA.
And before someone brings up the fact that the bodies of children were found in those graves, let me remind you that the US is the only major country in the world to send children to death row.
