Really, who cares?

I've used PC's pretty much all my life, I've built them, repaired, upgraded, etc, etc, and I've never had a problem maintaining a healthy pc. The current pc I'm on I built two years ago, I haven't had one virus, adware, malware, problem, but then again it's not rocket science to keep your pc working and running.

As for whether a mac can outlast a pc, lol, I can go into my basement, pull out a commodore 64 and have it up and running in about 10 minutes. Computer components rarely fail, it doesn't matter if it's a mac or pc.

Mac's are decent, I think OSX is pretty nifty, but I like to be able build my system from scratch, get the best components for what I need, etc, and I can't do that with macs. Also, in time, like Stuart pointed out, more security flaws will be found with macs as they get a bigger share of the market and when it does heaven help the poor mac user who's ill prepared to repair anything.

So, to each his own.
