Gee, thanks a lot Budget Car Rental
I had to rent a car last week when I went to Chicago and Indiana, and as usual I used my Budget Fastbreak card as it makes it easy to get my car and return it with no lines.
Since they rape you for fees if you don't return the car with the gas tank filled ($6+/gal) I always fill up before returning it. THe gas station down the street from Midway must know that people are filling their rental cars up there, so they gouge you for about $3.70/gal for unleaded. Anyhow . . . .
Today I am going through my online banking statement and notice that Budget has charged me about $60 more than what it should be. I call them and they say their records indicate that the car needed gas (yeah, maybe 1/4 gallon tops). They want me to fax in the original receipt from the gas station! I inform them that I can't find that and that I can fax them a copy of my online statement showing I bought gas minutes before returning the car. Apparently, that isn't good enough.
I get a supervisor on the line, and after some discussion she announces that "as a courtesy they will credit my card for the overage."
A courtesy? Yeah, thanks for making me not charge back on you, I appreciate it.
Funny thing is that they had me do an online survey shortly after I got home and one of the questions they asked is if I would recommend them to anyone after this rental experience. Nope, I sure won't.
