This would only be a problem if us Americans let "facts" get in the way of what we believe. We do not.
For example, Israel only does good, and Arabs and evil. There is obviously no truth to this statement, but it is what about 80% of Americans currently believe.
If we let things like "facts" and "reality" get in the way of our thought process, the majority of our country would not believe that a non-violent revolutionary who lived 2000 years ago was literally the only son of God.
