TAMPA ? Police are searching for a bank robber who may have serious burns below the belt after a dye pack exploded in his pants on Wednesday.
The bandit stuffed his haul from the Bank of America branch at 3439 W. Hillsborough Ave. down the front of his jeans about 11:44 a.m., but the red dye pack burst after he jumped over a low hedge in the northern parking lot, Tampa police said.
Witnesses saw the bandit flinging red-colored bills from his pants as he ran away, police said.
Robbery Detective Gary Balkcom said the temperature of a bursting dye pack reaches about 425 degrees Fahrenheit, making injuries likely.
?He?s probably going to have medical issues,? Balkcom said.
