Hit back to the beginning - it was never about Hezbollah - they only came into the scenario since the early 80's.
It is about ghettos, "settlements" and non-compliance with UN Res 242 which clearly started that Israel remove "troops from occupied territories".
Instead, half the population of Gaza are registered refugees living in eight ghettos for 40 ish years with very basic infrastructure and little hope of earning or being sustainable - together with road blocks and "permits" to prohibit access.
Instead, Israel has constructed a series of "non-Palestinian" roads and surrounding these - a series of "settlements" - on occupied land - the same land specified in 242.
Of course the Lebanese people will vote for people who are willing to stand up and protect them. What would you do if your family was confined to a ghetto for decades and under oppression by another party?
