It wasn't Lebanon doing the attacking, it was Hezbollah. A majority of the Lebanese don't support the ideas of Hezbollah (as should be clear from the fact that about 40% of Lebanese are christians and 20% are sunni muslims, while Hezbollah is a shiite organization that wants to turn Lebanon into a fundamentalist shiite state).
