Deriving industrial technology from biological analogs ROCKS! Another example of this is when a US defense contractor developed technology that coats ships' hulls with a material patterned after shark skin. Barnacles cost TONS of money yearly to ships due to loss of efficiency and speed. Shark skin has a natural resistance to barnacles and other organisms growing on it.
