2257 is extremely specific as to what is to be supplied and has NOTHING to do with a model release.

That sucks. your are corrrect.
That said, Before last July when a model walked for a shoot common pratice was to simply scan her id. Perhaps take a picture of her holding said id's. and have her fill out a release. Most production companies were not forward thinking enough to have the model fill out a separate signed legal form listing what is now required by 2257. It wasn't an issue back then.
