as a teenager I built one with a vacuum pump and a old propane torch bottle.
with a little machining and a valve to regulate the vacuum(this pump will do 29.99inchs of mercury) I was all set.
I strapped that bad boy on, turned the pump on and it sucked my balls up into the bottle - hurt like hell. so I had to work on the seal a little bit. after a little adjustment I was ready to try it again.
this time I got a good seal and all was well.
I played with this thing off and on for a few weeks. I cant say that I made it any longer but I sure as hell made it wider - well for a short time anyway - it was all fluid, felt good thou.
I have to say that this rig pulled a hellva lot more vacuum that any
other product on the market. maybe I didnt use it long enough
