To be honest, most people do compete and are competitive. I feel most people will deny it because it's very vain and superficial to do so, but most people do compete like this. It's innate human nature. Most people would not admit to it publically but they do compete or keep mental notes in their mind. I don't see how you can't. Most people I know are competitive. Most of my friends are competitive. Most people are just competitive by nature.
I think there's nothing wrong with it, if it drives you to work harder.
Most people do look at other people and see how they measure up. I don't see how you can't. Most people I know are like this.
