Man... the cartoon version explanation of the symbiote was really lame, I really loved the comic version too. Spider-man, like many of Earth's heroes and villains, were whisked away by the Beyonder (think true uber being, basically nearly unlimited powers). The Beyonder came from a pocket universe and wanted to essentially experiment so he got the best and the worst Earth had to offer, taking chunks of the planet and forming a new planetoid and this became known as the Secret Wars. The Secret Wars was fucking awesome... was a great storyline. Spidey finds the symbiote, thinks it's some kind of ultra costume, was only till much later he realized that it was actually an alien that wanted to rape aunt may and impregnate her with it?s symbiotic demon seed. GGILFs are fucking awesome.
