So we've never done exit consoles. They're just annoying. We used to do pop-unders on entrance. But when Service Pack2 rolled out for XP, Internet Explorer finally had pop up blocking turned on by default. We saw an enormous drop in the number of impressions and clicks. That and frankly any window popping up is annoying and surfers close them by reflex.
So we developed flash-based ads that "float" over our pages. No new windows, so no problems with pop-up blockers. But finding a way to get around the pop-up blocker isn't enough. We wanted to go from annoying to entertaining. Make the ad an tasty treat to swallow instead of bad medicine. So we hired a couple of full time animators and flash designers to create these ads. We concentrate on making each one a mini-story. They're all entertaining. The designers hand draw and animate each one. They work 5-7 days on each one.
