Personally I believe Americans feel it prudent to have a gun to protect their family because of the media and how it perpatrates mass paranoria. Michael Moore,love him or hate him but what he points out in Farenheit is completely true,watch the news in the US and then in Canada and you will see why Americans have more guns.
