I wouldn't call it a couple of "courses on the phone to understand it". Some people get it installed and use it without ever asking a question. Others need help above and beyond the training. The training is offered to give value to the product and make sure those using it know how to use it. I don't get how people see that as a bad thing.
If you can't spend 4-5 hours of your time to learn more about how the software powering your business works what are you spending that time on thats more valuable?
The training isn't provided becuase the software is sooo complex and soooo hard to understand as a certain competitor of ours seems to like to tell people. It is provided to make sure you know what you're doing and what you can do with it.
