Maybe they don't care so much about their looks as they do their intelligence and success. Seems to be paying off well for them. Don't really find that many struggling Japanese waitresses around.
For example, an educated Asian probably knows that a Dentist cleans teeth, while it is an Orthodontist who deals with the straightening of them.
