When folks have no real weapons and elect to fight wars on a guerilla basis - they can't be "defeated". It's been like that for centuries and recent examples were Russia in the Middle East - same with the US in that region now.
One thing for sure... like al Queda, the moment you attack them (or purport to attack them

) by conventional means and people see this - they will get more support (even from folks who would never have considered sympathy towards them). The best recruiters and funders of al Queda is the current US Admin.
Within the last short while Hezbollah have now become the flavor of the month with the people in Gaza - and chances are, they will now have a swelling support in Lebanon. They are now the defenders of the Lebanese people (in fact - suppose they always have been).
