The population of Switzerland is around 6 mill and there are estimated to be around 2 mill weapons in public hands spacedog.
Part of that stems from centuries of having an odd form of national defence - and where all males of military age are given training in the use of firearms and expected to keep an M-57 and 24 rounds at home etc.
Sure.. you are correct - the crime rate from firearms offenses is too low to even consider keeping records and gun control is simply not an issue.
