I received this yesterday from a friend of mine who is currently in a bomb shelter in Lebanon.
**
From the bleeding heart of a man from the heart of bleeding Lebanon.
No man cares less then a man who has nothing to loose
************************************************** ****************
I would have loved to write to you people, after an exciting month, of
the Lebanese way to live the Mondial, but writing soon turned to a
nightmare.
If the "memories of War" I wrote for my brother Z. was all about a child's
view of simple daily games to escape the tragic reality, this time the
adult understands what his father lived when he was his age.
If the great powers have their agenda to score points, no one is
shouting GOAAAAL in my land.
The cold metal of Israel, our friendly neighboor, is being warmed in the
hearts of my children.
Nations decided to turn away their face, from a country which army is only
allowed to ask for the papers of my car to check if I paid the "mecanique"
or not.
For the israeli pilots, Hunting Season is opened, and what a glory to bomb
innocent children playing on the ground, or even lying in the back of a
pick-up who's moving them away from their village, after the UN peace keepers refused to let them stay the night in their luxurious bunkers.
Again, our airport is closed (all those millions went for nothing), the
ports are crippled, and soon gazoline will run out.
Again, we have to stock rice and sugar,
Again we have to buy more bread.
Again, one sees the images of death, those which may have been deleted from old TeleLiban archives, but never from our heart and soul.
Again, Lebanese have to pay with their lives the price of refusing to fight
each other.
But what the "International Community" forgot, is that no man cares less
then a man who lost it all, and that 15 years of Lebanese civil war didn't let
any bunch of them step back from what they believed in.
We lost a lot, Lebanese in all the countries of the world, I call upon you
to press cease-fire, before we loose it all.
