cute and ultra compact do not provide the image quality due in large part because the lens system is a key component to image quality and small size compact usually cannot provide a lens big enough to let in lots of light to allow a low ISO image.
that said, you have many choices, for best bang for the buck i would look to discontinued models on ebay at low prices.
probably anything canon will give best image/color quality for web work.
