was done in a hospital and not by a "mohel" when I was 4 years old... not 8 days...
was a very bad experience at that age, but of course now I don't give a shit about it. and also, the experience is not nearly as bad for an 8 days old child.
even if it's not a common practice in your society, and you don't give a damn about the religious or traditional reasoning, it's worth it for estetical reasons, and you can be sure it won't hurt to do it for medical reasons.
