Hmmmm I am not sure about this. There are many very spiritual people that are very wealthy. Many attribute their wealth to their faith. Not because they pimped and gimped others into making them money ala Jimmy Swaggart/Jim Bakker televangelists but because they use their faith as a motivational base from which to excel in business.
On a related note-- There are many views on the proper balance between faith and material wellbeing--from the view that faith should cancel out material trappings (see the Medieval monks and their vows of poverty along with Buddhist monks and their ritual begging) all the way to the "Gospel of Wealth" and Jabez movements in Christianity. There's many schools of thought on this.
